Weekly Fitness Fun

Woops! I got so busy last week that I completely forgot to do one of these! Here are a few things for you all:

For those of you who have thought about running, the annual Santa Shuffle is coming up. I had a few clients do the version in Ottawa last year, and they said it was fun. Proceeds go to a good cause, and it’s a nice introduction to the world of competitive running. For more info on Toronto’s event, check out their website.

It’s already half way through November, but Octopus Gardens is running a yoga discount event. For every class you take at their studio for November, you get a discount on a monthly pass for December. Details are on their website.

It looks like there is going to be a family skating day at Christie Pits Park, every Sunday starting in December. The only info I have so far is on their website here. Might be worth checking out!

No matter what you do, enjoy it! And as always, if you know of a fitness event in our area, do drop me a line.

Hi! just got here from your other blog (which I liked following btw). I see that you’re talking about some of the local causes in your area and I can definitely relate to that. I live a stone’s throw away from a plethora of wellness stores including nail care, massage centers, a community center (where they have classes in an assortment of studies including Tai-Chi, Yoga, and Qi-gong), 2 tanning salons, 2 beauty salons, and a gym: All on the same block! Needless to say, we have community events that your blog reminded me of. One in particular is the yearly Walk for Breast Cancer. It’s a 10K walk that goes right through our strip of stores. Each of us set up tables outside our storefronts with refreshments, fliers, and even free services for those who need it. Nothing fancy, but a 5-minute back massage here, showers set up with a pull mechanism for when a walker gets hot, etc. We even had set up between 2 stores equipped with “blaster” fans for those who didn’t want to get wet. Like yourself, it’s moments like these where each of us give a part of what we are experts in. Networking and getting potential leads are always in the air, but for instances like the events you’re involved in, you’re giving a piece of yourself because you care. I find that a warming commodity in a society where there is so much negativity nationally and abroad. I have bookmarked this blog and I look forward to other missives you post. Take care – Tamara
